Privacy Notice
Version 1.0 · 5 October 2026
1. Who is responsible
MOvid Medienproduktion GmbH, Kirchenstr. 6, 24245 Kirchbarkau, Germany
Managing director: Tim Boehme
Email: support@movid.com · Telephone: +49 4302 9390
MOvid is the controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the processing described here, unless another controller is named.
2. In short
- The product pages of this website set no cookies, use no analytics service and load no fonts, scripts or images from other servers.
- Our web host keeps an access log, as every web server does.
- Videos are loaded from YouTube only after you press play.
- Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, not by us.
- Our applications run on your Mac. They never transmit your footage, scripts or logs. They contact a server only for the purposes listed in Section 8.
3. Visiting the website
What is processed. When a page, a download or another file is requested, the web server records the request in its access log: IP address, date and time, the address requested (including any parameters in it), the referring page if your browser sends one, and the browser identification (user agent).
Purpose and legal basis. Delivering the website and keeping it secure and stable. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the operation and security of the website.
Recipient. The website is hosted by Host Europe GmbH (a GoDaddy group company), c/o Spaces, Gertrudenstr. 30-36, 50667 Köln, Germany, which processes this data on our behalf.
Retention. Log data is kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its operating procedures and is then deleted. We do not combine it with other data about you.
Statistics. We may evaluate the access log in aggregate to see how many copies of our applications are in use and whether an advertisement led to visits: number of requests per day, counted per IP address in memory, without storing addresses and without building profiles. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is to measure reach with the least intrusive means. You may object at any time (Section 12).
No cookies, no tracking tools on the product pages. The pages under /, /apps/, /videos.html, /support.html, /terms.html, /privacy.html and /legal.html set no cookies, use no local storage, and contain no analytics, advertising or social media code. Two separate services under /rss and /news are described in Section 9.
Campaign parameter. If you reach the website through one of our advertisements, the address may carry a short campaign label (for example ?src=yt1). If you then go on to the store, this label is passed to the store with the link and stored with your order there, so that we can see which advertisement led to a purchase. It contains no information about you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Downloads
EZ-Play, the manuals and the licence texts are downloaded directly from this website. No registration, no email address and no form are involved; only the access-log entry described in Section 3 is created.
5. Videos (YouTube)
Our product videos are hosted on YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. A video page first shows only a preview image stored on our own server. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play.
When you press play, the player is loaded from www.youtube-nocookie.com. From that moment Google receives your IP address and technical data about your device and browser, and may store information on your device. Google processes this data as its own controller, possibly also in the United States.
Legal basis: your consent, given by pressing play (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; § 25(1) TDDDG). You can avoid this by not starting the player; every video is also linked directly to YouTube. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
6. Contacting us
If you write to support@movid.com or call us, we process your address or number, the content of your message and the technical details you send us (for example the application version and what the licence window says) in order to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request concerns a licence or a purchase, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Our mailboxes are operated by Microsoft (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Dublin) as processor on our behalf.
Retention: we keep support correspondence for as long as it is needed to deal with your request and for possible follow-up questions, and delete it afterwards unless statutory retention periods require longer storage.
7. Purchases and trial versions (Lemon Squeezy)
Paid licences and trial versions are obtained through the store at toolsforfilm.lemonsqueezy.com. Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) acts as reseller and merchant of record: it concludes the purchase contract with you, processes the payment through its payment providers (Stripe, PayPal) and issues the invoice. For this processing Lemon Squeezy is its own controller; its privacy policy applies: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
As soon as you open a checkout page, the store sets cookies of its own and records your IP address and browser identification. This happens on the store's website, not on ours.
What we receive. For each order, the store makes order data available to us: your name and email address, country, the product and order number, the licence key, its activations with the installation label, and a campaign label if there was one. We use it to administer licences, to answer support requests and to meet accounting obligations. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR. Retention: for the duration of the licence and afterwards for as long as statutory retention periods for commercial and tax records require.
Email. We do not currently send newsletters or marketing email. If you opt in to product news in the store's checkout, your address would be used for that purpose only, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Lemon Squeezy is established in the United States; see Section 11.
8. Our applications
EZ-Play, Offload Wrangler, LogIT and Timecode Juggler run locally on your Mac. Your footage, audio, scripts, logs and reports stay on your computer and on the drives you choose. The applications contact a server only in the following cases.
(a) Licence activation and licence check (Offload Wrangler, LogIT, Timecode Juggler). When you enter a licence key, when the licence is re-checked, and when you deactivate a computer, the application contacts the licence service of the store (api.lemonsqueezy.com, operated by Lemon Squeezy) and transmits: the licence key; at activation a label for the installation consisting of the computer's short network name and the first eight characters of its hardware identifier; afterwards the installation number the service assigned. Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent to us. An activated licence continues to work offline for 45 days after the last successful check. Purpose: validating the licence and limiting it to the agreed number of computers. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
(b) Update check (all four applications). At start, at most once every 20 hours, the application requests a small file from our web server (/updates/…json) to learn whether a newer version exists. The request carries no identifier of you or your computer; it names the application and its version. Like every request to the website it appears in the access log with your IP address (Section 3). The answer may contain a short notice from us, shown once in the application. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is to inform users of updates, including security fixes.
(c) EZ-Play start panel. After installation or an update, at the first start of that version, and whenever you open it from the Help menu, EZ-Play requests one page from our web server and shows it in a panel with information about our other programs. The request names the application and carries no identifier of you; it appears in the access log (Section 3). If the server cannot be reached, the panel is skipped. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
(d) Optional AI assistance in Timecode Juggler. If you use this feature, the text you have selected is sent by the application directly to the AI provider you have configured yourself (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, OpenRouter, or a model running locally on your own computer), using your own access key, which is stored in the macOS keychain. We receive neither the text nor the key. The provider processes the text under its own terms as your contractual partner. An edition of Timecode Juggler without this feature is available.
(e) Optional notifications in Offload Wrangler. If you set up notifications, Offload Wrangler sends the messages you configured through your own email account or through the Messages application on your Mac. We do not receive them.
(f) Nothing else. The applications contain no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising components.
9. Other services on this domain
Two further services run under the same domain.
RSS manager (toolsforfilm.movid.com/rss). A feed reader with user accounts. It stores the user name you choose, a hash of your password, the time the account was created and last used, and your feeds, folders, tags and reading marks. No email address is collected. It sets one session cookie (PHPSESSID), which is technically necessary to keep you logged in and is deleted when the browser session ends. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; for the cookie § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. Accounts are deleted on request.
News page (toolsforfilm.movid.com/news). A page compiled on our server from public news feeds. If you choose a category filter, your browser remembers the choice in its local storage on your device. This is not transmitted to us. Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG.
